Kia ora and welcome!

We value every child and see them as unique and a special taonga. We understand that your child’s education and care is a priority and that choosing the right centre can be a big decision.

Welcome from our Centre Manager

Jade Taylor

Kia ora, I’m Jade Taylor. I have been teaching since 2008 and managing various centres since 2016. I have been with Busy Bees over 5 years across 4 different centres. As a Centre Manager, I am passionate about providing quality care and education to the tamariki. I bring skills and knowledge of living and learning within the natural world into the learning journeys of tamariki ma. I live with my husband and daughter on a lifestyle block in Kerikeri, and in my spare time I spend time with my horses or in my garden.

Our environment is warm and inviting, designed to promote independence, responsibility, self-help skills and social development. The centre’s inside and outside areas have spaces that incorporate the integration of all curriculum areas. Children are surrounded by their friends who are of similar ages where they build strong friendships and learn from one another.

We provide a beautiful, large and natural outdoor setting that encourages curiosity and discovery. Our kaiako have close connections with all the tamariki, whānau, and the local community. Every day, we help children develop strong social skills and a sense of responsibility.

Our preschool offers opportunities throughout the day for tamariki to be involved in contributing to the curriculum helping to make decisions about what is set up and sharing their ideas. Kaiako work alongside the children to set up an environment which is challenging, provides curiosity and active exploration. Children’s self-help skills are very important at this stage and children are supported to go to the toilet on their own, wash hands, dress themselves, serve up their own morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea as well as get involved with washing their own dishes after their meals and tidying up their areas of play.

Our sister centre, Busy Bees Kerikeri Nursery is conveniently located within walking distance of our centre and provides exceptional care for children aged 0-3 years old. As tamariki reach the next developmental stage, we collaborate closely to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition between our centres.

Dietitian Designed Menus

Our dedicated cook and centre team is currently striving towards the Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award from the Heart Foundation.

From wholesome ingredients to balanced portions, every meal is thoughtfully crafted to support healthy development and foster good eating habits from an early age.

We proudly operate our own Busy Bees centre van, allowing us to help support our centre whānau who require assistance with transport to and from the centre. We also utilise this awesome resource for excursions out and about in our local community, which are always fantastic learning opportunities!

In preperation for Kura, we maintain regular visits to our local primary school, working closely with them to create an effective transition program. Our tailored approach focuses on foundational skills for a successful start to learning. From handling books and making story predictions to identifying rhyming words and participating in memory games, our transition to school programme covers a wide range of essential skills. Meaning an easy start for your little one at primary school.

Bee Curious, our Busy Bees Curriculum Framework, has been created to guide and inspire kaiako in supporting tamariki through rich, interconnected learning experiences. Built on the strong foundation of Te Whāriki, it reflects the principles of Aotearoa New Zealand’s early childhood curriculum and the aspirations we hold for our children as they grow.
