Busy Bees Aotearoa started life as Provincial Education in 2013, growing from a single centre in Rotorua to over 75 centres today.  Centres are located from Northland to Timaru and all offer something unique and special to their communities. We’re passionate about providing inspiring and nurturing early childhood education. We work hand in hand with our parents to create happy, educational, and fun learning experiences for each child. FAQs

We understand that your child’s education and care is a priority and that choosing the right childcare centre can be a big decision. We would be delighted to share in your child’s learning journey and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Do you offer 20 hours ECE?
Yes, our centre is a government approved ECE programme. The Government funds the cost of children aged 3-5 years to attend early childhood education (ECE) for up to 20 hours a week. This funding is called 20 Hours ECE and is available for up to six hours a day for children in approved programmes, like our centre.
What is included in your fees?
On top of the exceptional personalised care and early learning provided, our fees include water, wipes, sunscreen, bedding, portfolio books, Storypark and subsidised meals at some centres. Please refer to individual centres to see what else may be included.
Do you have a school readiness programme?
Yes, each of our preschools operates their own readiness for school programme, helping to build a strong foundation of independence and essential skills in preparation for children to transition to school as confident, capable learners.
What do I need to bring?
Our centres provide fresh water, wipes, sunscreen and bedding if your child requires a sleep. We ask that parents provide formula and suitable named clothing for the season, including 2 changes. Whilst the majority of our centres also provide meals, some may require a named, packed lunchbox. Please refer to your local centre for any specific requirements.
What age can my child start?
Our centres cater for children from around 3 months, up to school age, with pre-planned settling processes for children at every age and stage to ensure their transition and settling into centre life is as smooth and easy as possible.
When do you operate?
The majority of our centres are open all year round, Monday – Friday, including school holidays and the Christmas/New Year period for your convenience and to meet the needs of our families. Our centres are closed statutory days only. Please refer to individual centre locations for specific operating hours.
What food will my child eat?
The majority of our centres have their own inhouse cook, providing nutritious and tasty meals and snacks to fueling our children with the right nutrients to grow and develop, enabling clear minds to focus on the learning, setting children up to thrive at our centre. Check out our Nourish meal programme for examples of our menus https://busybees.org.nz/programmes/nourish We also cater for children with specific allergies or intolerances, please discuss any requirements with your local centre.
How far in advance should I enrol my child?
We encourage you to get in touch with your local centre early on, as places are worked out based on start dates, waitlists and availability within the centre. We welcome centre tours without fees or commitment, as we want you to make sure our centre is right for you and your child.
Are your teachers qualified?
A minimum of 80% of our teachers are qualified, with every single one of our staff meeting strict safety checking procedures, and well versed in centre policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of care and education for your children.
