Our friendly staff strongly value relationships with our centre whānau and wider community. This is something we hold close to our hearts and incorporate into our programme daily.

We'd love for you to come and visit!

If you’re visiting us for the first time, we’re really looking forward to welcoming you!

Please note there are currently roadworks near our centre until the end of August. Don’t worry - this doesn’t change anything for your visit, you can still come in as usual!

A Nurturing Environment to Explore, Connect, and Grow

At Busy Bees Pukekohe learning centre, we pride ourselves on an inclusive, calm, and safe environment where individual milestones are celebrated, and children are encouraged to learn at their own pace.

We have three spaces: a cosy nursery, a separate toddler space and an adventurous preschool environment. The Pukeko room has its own separate outdoor play space, where Tui and Kiwi are joined outside, providing endless opportunities to explore the natural environment and build meaningful interactions.

We promote the development of active and confident lifelong learners who think, question, seek information and apply knowledge to the best of their ability.

Childcare Classrooms at Our Pukekohe Centre

Busy Bees Pukekohe Early Education Centre has three classrooms that cater to differing ages and developmental stages of tamariki.

Te Pukeko Rūma / The Pukeko Room (0-2 years)

Our nursery environment is based on building loving, trusting bonds between infants and teachers, who structure the day to meet individual needs. Teachers work closely with families to understand infant cues and develop a routine that supports children’s natural rhythms. Play is open-ended and full of fun as we embrace the unknown, with children exploring and experimenting with their ideas and theories about how the world around them works.

Te Tui Rūma / The Tui Room (2-3.5 years)

Our toddler centre is designed to help our tamariki balance the desire to be independent with the need for care. This age group is ready to explore their sense of self, whilst still needing more care than the older children. Our toddler environment is prepared with open-ended resources that entice children’s social skills, curiosity and exploration, where testing, trying, and challenge are valued. We support the early childhood learning journey with a developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports all children during this age of discovery and wonder.

Te Kiwi Rūma / The Kiwi Room (3.5-6 years)

Our preschool in Pukekohe offers opportunities for children to contribute to the curriculum, help make decisions about what is set up, and share their ideas. Teachers work alongside the children to set up an environment that is challenging and provides curiosity and active exploration. We focus on children’s interests and dispositions that motivate and provoke their learning.

The preschool children have regular mat times throughout the day where they learn songs, stories and are encouraged to share with the other children. We value that each child is unique and learns at their own pace. When they are ready, they will flourish.

Food & Nutrition

Our kitchen is the heart of our childcare centre in Pukekohe, where our talented cook creates healthy, well-balanced and nutritious meals. Nutrition is so important for young children, as it is directly linked to all aspects of their growth, development, and well-being.

Seasonal, Allergy-Aware Food

Each season, we change our menu to suit the weather. We want to make the most of delicious, seasonal, fresh fruit and vegetables, so your child tastes a variety of meals. We are also mindful of any food allergies or intolerances your child may have. Please specify these when enrolling your child.

Our Curriculum

Busy Bees childcare in Pukekohe is grounded in the New Zealand National ECE Curriculum, Te Whāriki. We view parents, whānau, and the wider community as a partnership, in which we all share a responsibility to empower children as lifelong learners from the moment they begin to explore the world around them.

Supporting School Readiness

Our transition to school programme is dedicated to further supporting our tamariki in their readiness for school. Our teachers gently guide children's learning and work alongside them to make some aspects of school more familiar and practice the values seen within our school communities. Predominant areas that we support are: self-help and regulation skills, early mathematics and literacy, name recognition, and fine/gross motor development.
