Guided by Whanaungatanga and Kotahitanga, we believe learning thrives through strong partnerships with tamariki, whānau, and our community. Our centre is home to three thoughtfully designed rooms — Kaakano (0-2 Years), Koohura (2-3.5 Years), and Mahuri (3.5-6 Years) — each supporting children’s unique learning journeys. Tuakana-teina relationships and shared learning are encouraged in a supportive, collaborative environment. With indoor and outdoor spaces that reflect our belief that the environment is the third teacher, tamariki are inspired to explore, experiment, and grow into confident, curious learners.
Our Reggio Emilia–inspired environment is designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and engagement. Sensory-rich, open-ended materials — from natural objects to loose parts and art supplies — allow tamariki to explore, problem-solve, and express themselves, indoors and outdoors. Our kaiako act as facilitators, observing children’s interests and using these insights to guide meaningful, project-based learning experiences.
Guided by Manaakitanga, our curriculum honours each child’s unique identity, culture, and strengths, fostering holistic development, wellbeing, and a love of learning. We value strong connections with our community and take tamariki on regular excursions to places such as St Andrews Resthome, Cambridge Library, the House of Wonder Vegetable Garden, and Lake Te Kōoutu Park, enriching learning beyond the classroom. Children aged two and over also enjoy pony rides, while fortnightly gym sessions support their physical development, confidence, and wellbeing. We warmly welcome you to join us and partner in your child’s learning journey.

We are extremely proud and excited to announce that we have received a Rito Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award from the Heart Foundation for the amazing things we do here at House of Wonder Cambridge to promote healthy food and physical activity. We are helping our tamariki to have healthy habits and healthy hearts for life.
Our inhouse cook provides freshly made meals for children each day using our Nourish menus and recipes. We believe that through nourishing food, children are fueled to thrive physically and mentally, whilst enjoying the benefits of coming together and connecting as a group at mealtimes.
Teachers also do regular baking with the children, which provides them opportunities to engage and learn a range of food preparations skills and fine motor movements such as pouring, sifting, spooning. It is a great hands on sensory experience for children to develop independence through self-help skills, practice simple maths as they measure and count quantities.
