Our centre has 3 amazing rooms supporting our future tamariki - Kaakano (0-2 Years), Koohura (2-3.5 Years) and Mahuri (3.5-6 Years). Tamariki get to be curious and experiment, discovering new things every day! This approach recognises that every child is unique and capable of learning in their own way. So why not join in on the fun and watch your child grow into a confident, curious learner where we value your aspirations as the child’s first teachers building responsive reciprocal partnerships with whānau.
In our Reggio Emilia-inspired environment, our physical spaces are carefully designed to provoke curiosity, creativity, and engagement. Our Kaiako act as facilitators, observing and documenting children's interests and ideas, and then using those observations to guide further learning experiences.
Open-ended materials play a crucial role in our environments, as they provide tamariki with endless possibilities for exploration, creativity, and problem-solving. Such as Natural objects, sparking imaginative play and inspiring questions about the environment, Loose parts like recycled materials for sorting, counting or imaginative play or art supplies where tamariki can express their ideas and emotions, and develop fine motor skills!
We love being apart of our community and going on regular excursions to places such as ST Andrews Resthome, Cambridge Library, House of Wonder Vegetable Garden and more!

We are extremely proud and excited to announce that we have received a Rito Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award from the Heart Foundation for the amazing things we do here at House of Wonder Cambridge to promote healthy food and physical activity. We are helping our tamariki to have healthy habits and healthy hearts for life.
Our inhouse cook provides freshly made meals for children each day using our Nourish menus and recipes. We believe that through nourishing food, children are fueled to thrive physically and mentally, whilst enjoying the benefits of coming together and connecting as a group at mealtimes.
Teachers also do regular baking with the children, which provides them opportunities to engage and learn a range of food preparations skills and fine motor movements such as pouring, sifting, spooning. It is a great hands on sensory experience for children to develop independence through self-help skills, practice simple maths as they measure and count quantities.
Kaakano (0-2 Years) - We believe it is important in being able to provide an environment that is enriched by “loving, kindness, nurturing and responsive care’ which switches on and releases children’s full emotional, intellectual, and spiritual potential as we provide an authentic environment of respectful practice guided by the RIE philosophy of Magda Gerber.

We provide a curious environment where we look through the lens of Rose Pere’s Te Wheke model for our project learning. Giving children an environment where they can express themselves through 100 languages.
