Picture a place where your little one gets to explore, create, and learn through play and collaboration. In our Reggio Emilia-inspired centre, our Kaiako act as facilitators, guiding children's learning and supporting their interests and ideas. The environment is designed to be sensory-rich, with natural materials and open-ended resources. This approach recognises that every child is unique and capable of learning in their own way. So why not join in on the fun and watch your child grow into a confident, curious learner.
We understand the importance of connecting with nature and take regular bush walks to explore and discover the natural world around us. Our tamariki love their visits to the local library to support early literacy development. We believe in building strong relationships with tamariki and their whānau, and we encourage open communication and work together to support each child's growth and development.
We are extremely proud and excited to announce that we have received a Rito level Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award from the Heart Foundation for the amazing things we do here at House of Wonder Chartwell to promote healthy food and physical activity. We are helping our tamariki to have healthy habits and healthy hearts for life.
Our inhouse cook provides freshly made meals for children each day using our Nourish menus and recipes, based on the New Zealand Heart Foundation Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award for Early Learning Centres. We believe that through nourishing food, children are fueled to thrive physically and mentally, whilst enjoying the benefits of coming together and connecting as a group at mealtimes.
Teachers also do regular baking with the children, which provides them opportunities to engage and learn a range of food preparations skills and fine motor movements such as pouring, sifting, spooning. It is a great hands on sensory experience for children to develop independence through self-help skills, practice simple maths as they measure and count quantities.
Kaakano (0-2 Years): We are committed to your baby’s well-being and foster a sense of home right in our centre. Communicating with you every step of the way, we take special care to ensure your baby has a safe, secure and encouraging environment for their growth and development.
Kakau (2-3.5 Years): We know big changes happen during this time like increased independence and more curious questions. Our kaiako welcome each toddler with open arms and patience. With your input, we give our tamariki an environment to explore and learn at their own pace. We have an additional water room and art studio for our toddlers, these are specifically designed rooms to encourage curiosity and exploration.
Puaawai (3.5-6 Years): The pre-school and kindergarten years are critical in preparing your little one for school and life. We expose children to abundant learning opportunities involving nature, literacy, numeracy, emotional development, confidence-building, social engagement and more! We have fostered a strong connection with our local school, supporting our tamariki with school readiness and learning experiences.
