We are a centre committed to creating a nurturing and trusting environment for tamariki and their whānau. Together, we work in partnership to ensure the best possible outcomes for every child.
Our centre features a spacious outdoor environment with real grass and plenty of room for tamariki to run, explore, and extend their abilities. With gentle guidance from our kaiako, children learn to keep themselves safe while developing confidence, curiosity, and independence. Our teaching team is a diverse group of passionate kaiako, representing a range of ages and cultural backgrounds. This diversity strengthens our ability to connect with every child and whānau, creating an inclusive environment where all tamariki feel seen, valued, and supported.
For our youngest tamariki, the Ponga Pēpi room offers a dedicated under-three space designed to support early development in a calm, responsive, and caring setting. Within this room, we have a specialised infant space where our smallest tamariki receive consistent care from two assigned kaiako each day. This ensures their individual needs and daily routines are met with the highest quality of care, in close collaboration with you as their whānau.
As tamariki grow and prepare to transition into the Pīwakawaka side, we provide a thoughtfully planned and gradual process that supports each child to feel secure, confident, and ready for the next stage of their journey.
The Pīwakawaka room is designed for tamariki aged three and beyond. In this space, children are offered a variety of thoughtfully planned play setups, activities, and daily rituals that promote independence, self-care, and learning through their interests. Our kaiako support each child in developing the skills they need to thrive, fostering a strong sense of identity and belonging. We also work closely with our local primary school to deliver our Beeing Four – Pathways to School programme. This is a dedicated time each day focused on supporting tamariki who are approaching their school journey. The programme fosters the skills, resilience, and confidence needed for a smooth and successful start to school life.
Our dedicated cook and centre team is currently striving towards the Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award from the Heart Foundation.
With the inviting smell of home cooked meals and baking, you won’t have to search very far to find our fabulous and passionate childcare centre cook who freshly prepares all meals in the heart of our centre.
Across morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, our Nourish menu provides foods that are minimally processed, avoiding recipes that are high in added sugar, instead using fresh, real and wholesome ingredients. Children are provided with well-balanced meals from the four main food groups (breads and cereals, milk and milk products, fruit and vegetables, lean meat and meat alternatives).
At Busy Bees Early Education Centre in Katikati. We are committed to follow the aspirations of the New Zealand National ECE Curiculum, Te Whāriki. Te Whāriki envisages kaiako in early learning settings working in partnership with parents, whānau and community to realise this vision. The expectation is that, in their early years, children will experience a curriculum that empowers them as lifelong learners, right from their early exploration of the world around them, through to preparation for school.
