We take pride in providing a safe and empowering environment for tamariki to learn and grow. Our centre features two age-appropriate classrooms, each fostering Tuakana/teina relationships and engaged tamariki. Our focus is empowering tamariki to direct their learning while ensuring they feel supported and safe. Our diverse resources and age-appropriate materials are always utilised to encourage teachable moments and happy, learning-focused experiences.
Koru Room, is an environment that cultivates a nurturing family feel while fostering respectful relationships with our youngest tamariki and their whānau. Our space includes separate areas for different developmental ages, led by fully qualified and experienced teachers. Natural resources and loose parts play inspire creativity, and our specially designed playground supports exploration and growth. Working closely as a team, we build strong relationships with all the children, providing a positive and enriching learning experience for each one.
Our toddler room Ponga offers a warm, caring, fun environment for your toddlers to spread their wings and explore. Your toddler will just love the space and resources we provide for learning and developing while having fun with their peers. We support childhood learning with a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and supportive of all children during this age of discovery and wonder. Your little adventurer will experiment with all the messy stuff such as painting, playdough, water and sand play, finger paint, and clay. Toddlers also love to climb and test their newfound large motor stills. We have a range of equipment such as ladders, boxes, and planks just the right size for them.
In our space, we prioritise our tamariki and their sense of belonging. Our rooms are designed to foster loving and trusting bonds between our infants and toddlers and their kaiako. Our kaiako work closely with whānau to establish excellent routines that support each tamati and ensure their individual needs are met. We strive to create a safe and nurturing environment where relationships are at the core of everything we do. Our tamariki are provided with open-ended resources that encourage them to explore, experiment, and develop their own ideas and create theories about the world around them. We also encourage our tamariki to take risks and challenge themselves, with the support of our kaiako.
Our sister centre, Busy Bees Kerikeri Preschool is conveniently located within walking distance of our centre and provides exceptional care for our older tamariki to transition to. As tamariki reach the next developmental stage, we collaborate closely to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition between our centres.
At Busy Bees Kerikeri Nursery, we prioritise the health and wellbeing of your little ones by offering nutritious meals crafted with care.
Our menus are designed by an experienced dietitian, ensuring they meet the specific nutritional needs of growing children whilst also bursting with flavour. From wholesome ingredients to balanced portions, every meal is thoughtfully crafted to support healthy development and foster good eating habits from an early age. With us, you can trust that your child is receiving the nourishment they need to thrive each day.
Fostering a Culture of Sustainability - Children place fruit and vegetable scraps in the compost bin. Additionally, we partner with a local farmer who collects our food scraps at the end of each day to feed their pigs.
Van & Excursions
We also proudly operate our own Busy Bees centre van, allowing us to help support our centre whānau who require assistance with transport to and from the centre. We also utilise this awesome resource for excursions out and about in our local community, which are always fantastic learning opportunities!
Our programme reflects the principles, goals and learning outcomes of Te Whāriki the New Zealand bi-cultural Early Childhood Curriculum. This curriculum covers the education and care of children from birth to school age and clearly reflects the concept of learning as a lifelong process that begins at the very start of life. Our teachers follow this to work alongside your child to plan and extend on their learning. This celebrates the uniqueness of each child and the value we hold in the contribution of family/whānau in their child’s learning.
