Inspired by the life cycle of an apple tree, our core values as a teaching team are deeply intertwined, supporting our Busy Bees Motueka tamariki in learning about the world and nurturing their unique abilities.
Whanaungatanga (SEED) – Just as the seed is carefully nurtured, we lay the groundwork to ensure tamariki are safe and supported as they establish their roots at Busy Bees Motueka. We work closely with whānau to honor their aspirations, building reciprocal, trusting relationships from the very start.
Turangawaewae (ROOTS) – From the moment tamariki and whānau arrive at Busy Bees Motueka, we ensure a strong sense of belonging and foundation, fostering a sense of Turangawaewae.
Manaakitanga (LEAVES) – We create an environment where tamariki learn together, engage in reciprocal experiences, and celebrate individual achievements as part of a cohesive roopu (group).
Tuakana—Teina (FLOWERS) – We empower tamariki to take charge of their learning experiences, providing opportunities for them to role-model and share their knowledge with their peers.
Mana Motuhake (APPLE) – As tamariki grow, they become independent learners, ready to embrace the next step in their educational journey.
Here at Busy Bee’s Motueka, you will continue to sense this strong sense of aroha, as we foster relationships and strive on extension of learning. Our homely Kumanu Rūma (0-2 year olds) and adventurous Taruna Rūma (2-5 year olds) have their own large outdoor environments filled with nature, extension of learning, and endless opportunities of growth. Our natural environment allows tamariki to connect with Papatūānuku (the natural world) and gives them the freedom to explore and have fun, alongside the kaiako and tamariki.
Kumanu Rūma (up to 2 years)
The Kumanu kaiako are committed to the wellbeing of your pēpi, and foster a sense of home through our collaborative relationships and manaaki with whānau. Kumanu kaiako utilise meaningful āmiki (story telling), waiata (singing), kanikani (dancing), taiao (nature), and tākarokaro (play) whilst maintaining a focus on the aroha and care that infants need to thrive. Communicating with you every step of the way, we take special care to ensure your pēpi has a safe, secure, and nurtured environment, tailored for their unique individual growth and development.
Taruna Rūma (2-5 years)
The Taruna kaiako are very aware that through these years of learning, curiosity, determination, and independence plays a huge role in the tamariki discovery of capability. The Taruna kaiako welcome each child with open arms, embracing each child’s independence and what knowing they bring with them. We embrace child led experiences to support enquiry, and include opportunities that involve, nature, literacy, numeracy, emotional development, confidence-building, social engagement in the daily curriculum.
With the inviting smell of home cooked meals and baking, you won’t have to search very far to find our fabulous and passionate childcare centre cook who freshly prepares all meals in the heart of our centre.
Across morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, our Nourish menu provides foods that are minimally processed, avoiding recipes that are high in added sugar, instead using fresh, real and wholesome ingredients. Children are provided with well-balanced meals from the four main food groups (breads and cereals, milk and milk products, fruit and vegetables, lean meat and meat alternatives).
Our dedicated cook and centre team is currently striving towards the New Zealand Heart Foundation Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award.
We proudly operate our own Busy Bees Motueka centre van, allowing us to help support both new and existing whānau who require assistance with transport to and from the centre. We also utilise this awesome resource for excursions out and about in our local community!
We are committed to follow the aspirations of the New Zealand National ECE Curriculum, Te Whāriki. Te Whāriki envisages kaiako in early learning settings working in partnership with parents, whānau and community to realise this vision. The expectation is that, in their early years, children will experience a curriculum that empowers them as lifelong learners. You will see this woven respectfully throughout the learning documentation, as together we will celebrate the wonderful successes your tamariki will have.
Our biggest strength is our teachers, their manaaki, and genuine care of tamariki. Our kaiako have a wide range of experience, and all share a passion for Early Learning Education. The kaiako each bring with them a kete of professional knowledge of teaching and child development, and nurture holistically, so that children leave Busy Bees Motueka with a love of learning, a sense of wonder and a strong sense of self.
