Oat Weet-Bix Slice Recipe – A Healthy, Fibre-Packed Snack for Children

At Busy Bees, we know that little tummies need big nutrition. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our brand-new recipe series, showcasing some of the most-loved meals and snacks from our Nourish programme. Designed with care by an expert dietitian, our menu ensures that children receive the right balance of nutrients to help them grow, learn, and play.

This series will feature wholesome, easy-to-make recipes that are not only delicious but also perfect for fuelling active little bodies.

First up is a much-loved morning tea favourite—Oat Weet-Bix Slice. The perfect healthy snack for children all year-round!

Oat Weet-Bix Slice Recipe

A wholesome, energy-packed slice, perfect for busy little explorers! This recipe is full of fibre, with the goodness of oats, Weet-Bix, and banana, making it a fantastic way to start the day or enjoy as a nourishing snack.

Makes around 38 slices

These bars can be prepared, frozen, and meal-prepped for the weeks ahead.

  • 12 Weet-Bix, crushed
  • 3 cups wholemeal self-raising flour
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 4 cups desiccated coconut
  • 1 large banana, mashed
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups milk of choice
  • 400g plant-based spread, melted
  • Natural, unsweetened yoghurt to serve

 Preheat oven to 180°C.

  1. Line a slice tray with baking paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the crushed Weet-Bix, flour, oats, coconut, banana, and brown sugar.
  3. Add in the milk and melted plant-based spread, stirring until well combined.
  4. Press the mixture evenly into the lined tray.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool, then slice into portions.
  7. Serve with natural yoghurt and fresh seasonal fruit.

Dairy-free option: Swap milk for a plant-based alternative like calcium-fortified soy milk.
