“Passionately Preparing Little People for Life“
Busy Bees Onehunga is a boutique centre with a homely feel. Our children and their families are at the heart of everything we do. Gaining inspiration from a range of learning philosophies, we have created our own vision which reflects our children, families and changing community.
We believe in a child centred environment where we take the time to listen to children and provoke thought. We aim to excite and inspire those in our care and understand the importance of scaffolding children to make their own choices when learning. We give children the opportunity to find their voice and creatively express themselves.
At Busy Bees Onehunga both children and teachers are learners. We recognise that each child is unique and look forward to sharing their journey. We act as facilitators of a continually changing experience, where children can interact, play and learn from each other.
Children under our care feel safe, valued and respected. We are passionate about our centre and feel privileged to be a part of each child’s learning, discoveries, celebrations, challenges, mistakes, tears and laughter.
Our inhouse cook provides freshly made meals for children each day. We believe that through nourishing food, children are fuelled to thrive physically and mentally, whilst cherishing the connection that takes place during shared meal times.
Teachers also do regular baking with the children, which provides them opportunities to engage and learn a range of food preparations skills and fine motor movements such as pouring, sifting, spooning. It is a great hands on sensory experience for children to develop independence through self-help skills, practice simple maths as they measure and count quantities.
We are committed to follow the aspirations of the New Zealand National ECE Curiculum, Te Whāriki. Te Whāriki envisages kaiako in early learning settings working in partnership with parents, whānau and community to realise this vision. The expectation is that, in their early years, children will experience a curriculum that empowers them as lifelong learners.
