We promote the development of active and confident learners who think, question, seek information and apply knowledge to the best of their ability. We have a beautiful large outdoor space, with age-appropriate areas. All of our rooms are well-resourced for the development of each age group.
We offer regular visits to the library and our local primary school as part of incorporating our localised curriculum. We are also fortunate to have our very own mini hall, that we visit during centre operational hours to extend various learning experiences for our children.
We proudly celebrate all cultures that make up our centre community. We do this by recognising each individual child, their home and where they come from, and we incorporate these into our day-to-day centre curriculum. This is all part of developing a sense of belonging. We take pride in small centre traditions such as farewells when children are 5 and off to school!
Our inhouse cook provides freshly made meals for children each day using our Nourish menus and recipes, based on the New Zealand Heart Foundation Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award for Early Learning Centres. We believe that through nourishing food, children are fueled to thrive physically and mentally, whilst enjoying the benefits of coming together and connecting as a group at mealtimes.
Teachers also do regular baking with the children, which provides them opportunities to engage and learn a range of food preparations skills and fine motor movements such as pouring, sifting, spooning. It is a great hands on sensory experience for children to develop independence through self-help skills, practice simple maths as they measure and count quantities.
Our space is made up of five amazing rooms, supporting children at each age and stage as they progress. We would love to share more about our rooms with you!
Explorers | Our Explorers room provides a nurturing environment for children from 0-2 years old. We aim to build trusting bonds with the families and tamariki in our environment. Our Explorers Kaiako (teachers) work with the families to ensure they are meeting the needs of each individual child and are providing them with a safe space where they are supported to reach their developmental milestones. Our kind and caring Kaiako follow the children’s interests and provide experiences based on what they have observed, along with exposing them to sensory exploration.
Adventurers | Our Adventurers room is designed for children aged 2-3 years old. Our Adventurer's room regularly explores the outdoor environment, developing their abilities to test, try, and challenge. Through both indoor and outdoor spaces our tamariki are presented with a safe space where their curiosity and wonder are fostered.
Collaborators | Collaborators room is for children aged 3-4 years old. We focus on a positive learning environment for all and place the learners at the heart of all we do. This room is designed to support the children in developing their self-help skills and base the curriculum on the children’s interests and goals. Through messy play and hands-on experiences, our Collaborators room aims to have a positive impact on all tamariki and whānau.
Researchers | Our Researchers room is for children aged 4-6 years old. In our space, we have regular mat times where the focus can be on number and letter recognition, along with many different songs and stories! During the day-to-day experiences and interactions, kaiako support the children with different tasks that support their school readiness. We understand that each child develops at their own pace and when they are ready.
Montessori | Our Montessori room is for children aged 3-5 years old, designed for tamariki who are becoming more independent and ready to embrace learning in new ways. The Montessori approach, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, encourages hands-on exploration and self-directed learning, helping children follow their natural curiosity. In this space, our Montessori-trained Kaiako guide children as they build knowledge and skills through carefully designed materials, fostering confidence, independence, and a real love for learning.
