Centre Cook | Busy Bees Putaruru

Are you passionate about food and enjoy cooking? Do you find joy in creating meals that children love?

Our homey centre is looking for a skilled cook to prepare nutritious and delicious meals for our little ones! As our cook, you will play a vital role in preparing dishes that not only nourish our tamariki but also provide them with the essential energy they need to thrive, learn, and engage in playful activities!

This is a full time role from 8am – 3pm, Monday – Friday.

About Us:

Busy Bees Putāruru provides excellent care and education for children 0-6 years within our local Putāruru community.  We strive to create an environment where our tamariki and whānau feel a sense of belonging, and everyone feels welcome.  We are so grateful for the spacious indoor and outdoor spaces, which keep our tamariki active and engaged. We supply hot fresh, healthy meals, and go on regular school visits as part of our school readiness programme. We are committed to providing excellent education and care, and promoting the development and learning of each child, through positive partnership and open communication at all times for family, tangata whenua, whānau, and community.  

About you:

• Experience in cooking for large groups, be it in a childcare centre or other environment
• Able to work well in a fast-paced environment, at times under pressure
• Fit and active, as this is a busy role
• Great communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with parents and children
• Able to manage a budget
• Competent in maintaining written records in line with the Food Act requirements
• Flexible in approach, but also able to work to a daily schedule
