Centre Cook

Cook with purpose. If you love food and get a kick out of creating meals children actually ask for, this role is for you. Be the heart of our kitchen, fuelling tamariki so they can learn, play, and thrive.

This is an incredible opportunity for someone who shares our passion for food and believes in the impact of nutrition on young children's physical and mental development.

About us:
Busy Bees Greytown is a warm, home-style villa where every child is a taonga. Our locally based kaiako know the community and create calm, well-resourced spaces for each age and stage, including a dedicated infants centre and a vibrant preschool. Outdoors, fruit trees and gardens invite real, unhurried play. We partner closely with families and local schools, keeping communication and transitions smooth. As part of Busy Bees Aotearoa, you’ll join a network that truly backs its people with real chances to learn and thrive. If you’re ready to bring your heart for tamariki to a centre that feels like home, we’d love to meet you. If you’re looking for a supportive, community-minded centre where your craft is valued and your growth is backed, Greytown is a beautiful place to belong.

About you:

You have proven experience cooking for large groups—ideally in ECE—and can deliver nutritious, child-friendly menus that meet allergies and dietary needs. Calm, organised, and solutions-focused, you communicate well with tamariki, colleagues, and whānau, work smoothly to a daily schedule, and keep the kitchen humming. You manage ordering and budgets, maintain Food Act/Food Control Plan records to a high standard, and uphold excellent hygiene and food-safety practices. Bonus: a current food-safety cert, garden-to-table enthusiasm, and a sustainability mindset.

Why you’ll love working here:

  • Discounted childcare

  • Uniform provided

  • Competitive remuneration

  • Guidance and mentoring

  • Monthly staff wellbeing budget and access to EAP

  • A friendly, fun team environment

  • Annual flu vaccinations

Ready to cook with purpose at a centre that feels like home? Apply now with your CV and a short cover letter telling us why this role is a great fit for you.

Why Work for Busy Bees?
If you’re passionate about early learning, Busy Bees is the place to be. Although we are part of a global organisation, our company was founded by three families looking for better, more enriching childcare. Three decades later, we still keep the same values at heart.

We know that we couldn’t do what we do without the important people in our teams. We invest in our people and work with them to build career pathways that inspire.
