Unregistered Relief Teacher

Choose your days, make a difference. We’re looking for quality Relief Teachers to support our passionate team. Our centres are full of aroha and positivity, with real opportunities to grow. Keen to relieve at at a particular centre or across the region? Have a kōrero with us.

As a reliever, you set your availability, which is ideal if you’re studying or returning to work and want balance. If you’re flexible and can help at short notice, we’d love to hear from you. You’ll join a professional, upbeat team where the work is positive, fun, and genuinely rewarding.

About us:

Across our Hawkes Bay centres - including our Frimley, Hastings, Havelock North, and Napier Road - Busy Bees offers nature-rich, community-minded places where tamariki are taonga and whānau feel at home. Expect cosy nurseries and adventurous preschool spaces, real-grass outdoors, bike tracks, gardens and trees, and calm, well-resourced rooms that champion discovery, active movement, and smooth pathways to kura. We honour bicultural practice and celebrate the diverse cultures of our communities through everyday whanaungatanga, language weeks, kapa haka, and inquiry led by children’s interests and the environment as the third teacher.

Working across the region:
As a regional reliever, you’ll enjoy variety and impact - stepping into different age groups and teams, supporting play-based learning, excursions, and relationship-centred practice. You’ll be backed by Busy Bees Aotearoa with solid induction, mentoring, and growth opportunities, while keeping the flexibility to choose your availability across centres that share the same warm, unhurried vibe.

About you:

You’re the kind of person tamariki warm to quickly: calm, reliable, and ready to jump in. You read the room fast, keep supervision and safety tight, and follow centre routines while using initiative. You build easy connections with whānau and the team, support play-based learning, and add simple, clear notes when needed. You value our bicultural kaupapa and weave te reo Māori where you can, or you’re keen to grow here. You’re comfortable with short-notice calls and varied hours. We welcome Registered and Unregistered Relievers alike!

Why you’ll love it here:

  • Real flexibility, you choose your availability

  • Supportive team and welcoming culture

  • Well resourced centres and calm, organised rooms

  • Comprehensive induction and on-shift mentoring

  • Teacher in Training programme available if you want to study ECE

Ready to jump in when it counts? Apply today with your CV and a short cover letter. We look forward to hearing from you.

Please note: Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
