Centre Cook

Do you love creating wholesome meals and cooking for people who appreciate every bite? We are looking for a Centre Cook to join Busy Bees New Plymouth and help fuel our tamariki with fresh, nutritious kai that supports busy bodies and curious minds.

About us:
Busy Bees New Plymouth is a welcoming, community minded centre where tamariki spend their days exploring, learning and connecting with the natural world. Our cook is an essential part of that experience. You will prepare daily meals that align with our Healthy Heart approach and Nourish menus, creating food that is both nourishing and enjoyable for young children. Our kitchen is well equipped, our team is supportive and the atmosphere is full of warmth and collaboration. As part of Busy Bees Aotearoa, you will have clear guidelines, friendly leadership and a team who truly value the work you do.

The mahi:
Working Monday to Friday for 20 hours per week, you will prepare daily kai for our tamariki, follow menu guidelines, maintain kitchen hygiene and support our centre with food related routines. You will also be a friendly, familiar presence for children and part of the wider team culture.

About you:
• Confident cooking for groups and comfortable following set menus
• Organised, efficient and able to maintain a clean, well run kitchen
• Warm, friendly and able to build rapport with tamariki and whānau
• Fit and active with good time management
• A great communicator with a positive, team centred attitude
• Experience cooking in an ECE centre or similar environment is an advantage

Why you will love it here:
You will be part of a genuinely friendly, supportive team where your work is noticed and appreciated. You will receive discounted childcare, competitive remuneration, annual flu vaccination and first aid training, as well as guidance and ongoing support in your role. You will know the food you create each day is making a real difference for tamariki.

If you love creating delicious, nourishing kai and want to be part of a team who values your skill and heart, we would love to hear from you. Please apply with your CV and cover letter.

Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid work visa.

We are an Accredited Employer.

Why Work for Busy Bees?
If you’re passionate about early learning, Busy Bees is the place to be. Although we are part of a global organisation, our company was founded by three families looking for better, more enriching childcare. Three decades later, we still keep the same values at heart.

We know that we couldn’t do what we do without the important people in our teams. We invest in our people and work with them to build career pathways that inspire.
