Bring your creative passion and expertise to our infants team at House of Wonder Christchurch. We are seeking an experienced Registered Kaiako who is deeply committed to the care of our youngest tamariki through a Reggio-inspired lens. Set within our iconic city mansion, this is a beautiful opportunity to practice in a setting that values deep attachment and innovative care.

About us:

House of Wonder Christchurch is a truly unique early learning village set within an iconic mansion in the heart of the city. Joining the Busy Bees Aotearoa whānau offers you the backing of a national network within a team that fuses neuroscience with a holistic learning philosophy. Our five distinct rooms provide a homely hub where we listen to the ideas and theories of our tamariki, empowering them to construct their own learning. Whether you are in our nursery, toddler room, or prepschool, you will be part of an innovative environment that values love and attachment. Join us in this remarkable setting where your creative passion helps every child prosper and grow.

About You:
We are looking for a kaiako who is heart-centred, professional, and ready to make a difference. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Professional Qualifications: A recognised ECE or Primary teaching qualification and a current New Zealand teacher registration.

  • Reggio Inspiration: A passion for inquiry-based learning and an understanding of how the Reggio Emilia philosophy supports the theories of infants.

  • Relational Excellence: A warm and proactive communication style, with a natural ability to build deep, respectful relationships (Whanaungatanga) with our tamariki, whānau, and your colleagues.

  • Collaborative Spirit: A positive energy and a desire to be part of an innovative team that keeps growing together.

  • Pedagogical Depth: A deep understanding of Te Whāriki and the confidence to deliver high-quality, meaningful outcomes through intentional observation and care.

  • Experience and Passion for Infants: You have a proven background in nursery pedagogy and a genuine love for supporting the development of our youngest tamariki.

Why you’ll love it here:

  • Financial Recognition: We provide Full Pay Parity for all our Registered Teachers to ensure your expertise is fairly rewarded.

  • Growth and Mentoring: Every member of our team has access to a generous PLD budget and genuine mentoring to help you reach your goals.

  • Holistic Wellbeing: We look after our people with monthly wellbeing initiatives, EAP access, and covered costs for your annual flu vax and First Aid certification.

  • Innovative Setting: Work in a remarkable environment that values love, attachment, and neuroscience-based practice in the heart of the city.

  • Practical Support: To make your workday easier, we offer discounted childcare fees and provided staff uniforms.

If you are ready to help our smallest tamariki prosper and grow in a setting that values heart and innovative practice, we would love to hear from you. Come and find your place in our Christchurch village; apply today!
