Our experienced, passionate kaiako each bring their own unique kete full of knowledge to support all tamariki and whanau that come to our whare ako. Our supportive team are ready to meet you and your tamariki where you are and guide you through this beautiful journey here at Busy Bees Morrinsville. Our kaiako have been selected based on their experience and passion within the Early Learning field, their professional knowledge of teaching and nurturing young tamariki as well as their philosophy of education and knowledge of child development.
Our team strongly value and nurture whanaungatanga (relationships) with one another, with our beloved whaanau and with our tamariki.
"Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti arahia ō tatou mahi, Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work."
Our approach is very much about being responsive to each individual child’s cues and that every child is unique and ensuring they are treated as such. Each child is observed and planned for as an individual. Based on the current disposition each child has been displaying, learning experiences are then set up. We work in partnership with whaanau, knowing that they are their children’s first teachers and that they know their child best.
Our transition-to-school programme, Te Ara Tipu, is dedicated to supporting our ākonga as they grow in confidence and readiness for school. Te Ara Tipu is an optional programme curated by our talented educators to help make key aspects of school more familiar, while practising the values upheld within our school communities.
Through strong relationships and ongoing communication with our local kura, we ensure our Te Ara Tipu curriculum remains current, responsive, and aligned with the needs and developmental stages of our learners/ākonga.
Primary areas of support include self-help and regulation skills, social strategies, early mathematics and literacy, name and letter recognition, and fine and gross motor development.
He taiao whakamīharo – a place to explore and grow
Te Taiao (the natural world) is at the heart of everything we do. Tamariki can dig and discover in our enormous sandpit, adventure through our ngahere (forest), harvest kai from our maara kai, zoom around our bike track, and climb high on our jungle gym. Every corner of our environment invites creativity, problem-solving, and joyful play.
Whanaungatanga – relationships that matter
Within Te Puaawai, we value strong relationships with people, places, and things. We encourage tamariki to be kaitiaki of our space and our whenua, fostering a deep sense of belonging and connection.
Growing confident, capable learners
Our approach supports each child to discover their identity, strengths, and passions. With gentle guidance from kaiako, tamariki develop confidence, independence, and a lifelong love for learning.
Nutritious morning tea and lunch is provided daily. Our fabulous centre cook, uses our Nourish menus to provide food that is minimally processed, avoiding recipes that are high in added sugar instead using fresh, real and wholesome ingredients. Tamariki bring their pouaka kai (lunch boxes) for afternoon tea every day.
Te Pihinga (up to 2 years)
In Te Pihinga, whanaungatanga is at the heart of our mahi. We strive to ensure every tamaiti and their whaanau feels genuinely welcomed, valued, and embraced as part of our kaupapa. By creating a warm, consistent environment, tamariki develop a strong sense of belonging and security — a foundation that allows them to flourish.
We deeply value the voices of our whaanau. Your insights, aspirations, and contributions help shape our daily rhythms, and we take every measure to make you feel comfortable and confident in our space. Together, we build a collaborative community where tamariki are supported in their natural routines and surrounded by manaaki.
Our kaiako bring a rich mix of strengths, skills, and talents. We communicate openly and professionally, and we believe in enjoying our mahi — bringing fun, positivity, and passion into each day.
At Te Pihinga, our focus is simple: to meet the needs of each child, to be present for them, and to build strong, trusting relationships that help them grow into capable, confident learners.
