ECE Relief Teachers | Busy Bees Gisborne Region

Choose your days, make a difference. We’re looking for quality Relief Teachers to support our passionate team. Our centres are full of aroha and positivity, with real opportunities to grow. Keen to relieve at at a particular centre or across the region? Have a kōrero with us.

As a reliever, you set your availability, which is ideal if you’re studying or returning to work and want balance. If you’re flexible and can help at short notice, we’d love to hear from you. You’ll join a professional, upbeat team where the work is positive, fun, and genuinely rewarding.

About us:

Warm, nature-rich, and community-minded - our Gisborne centres share the same heartbeat. You’ll teach in calm, well-resourced spaces with real-world, outdoor learning woven through gardens, trees, and open play. Te ao Māori is lived daily through whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and tuakana-teina, with a strong sustainability lens and the environment as a “third teacher.” Practice is play-based, reflective, and inquiry-led, with smooth pathways to kura and genuine partnership with whānau. You’ll enjoy genuine variety - moving between infants, toddlers, and preschool rooms; supporting excursions; and weaving Te Whāriki through play-based, relationship-centred learning. Expect well-resourced environments, calm, unhurried rhythms, and a team culture grounded in manaakitanga and inclusion. As part of Busy Bees Aotearoa, you’ll be backed by a strong organisation so you can bring your craft to life and thrive across centres that share the same warm values.

About you:

You’re the kind of person tamariki warm to quickly: calm, reliable, and ready to jump in. You read the room fast, keep supervision and safety tight, and follow centre routines while using initiative. You build easy connections with whānau and the team, support play-based learning, and add simple, clear notes when needed. You value our bicultural kaupapa and weave te reo Māori where you can, or you’re keen to grow here. You’re comfortable with short-notice calls and varied hours. We welcome Registered and Unregistered Relievers alike.

Why you’ll love it here:

  • Real flexibility, you choose your availability

  • Supportive team and welcoming culture

  • Well resourced centres and calm, organised rooms

  • Comprehensive induction and on-shift mentoring

  • Teacher in Training programme available if you want to study ECE

Ready to jump in when it counts? Apply today with your CV and a short cover letter. We look forward to hearing from you.

Please note: Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
