Do you love turning fresh ingredients into meals that bring people together? We are looking for a Centre Cook to join Busy Bees Ōtāhuhu and help fuel our tamariki with kai that supports busy bodies, curious minds and a culture rich curriculum. This is a full time role, Monday to Friday.

About us:
Busy Bees Ōtāhuhu is a vibrant, community focused centre with nursery, toddler and preschool spaces and a strong connection to local whānau and places. Excursions to parks, gardens, the library and community events are a regular part of our week, and food sits right at the centre of that life. We are proud holders of the Rito Tohu Manawa Ora Healthy Heart Award, with Nourish menus that keep food simple, fresh and minimally processed. The kitchen really is the heart of the centre. You will be part of a values led team who see the cook as a key role in wellbeing, culture and daily routines, not just someone “out the back.” As part of Busy Bees Aotearoa you will have clear guidelines, strong leadership support and a wider network who value quality food.

The mahi:
Working Monday to Friday, you will prepare daily kai for our tamariki, follow menu guidelines, maintain high standards of food safety and kitchen hygiene, and support our centre with food related routines. You will also be a friendly, familiar presence for children and part of the wider team culture.

About you:

  • Confident cooking for groups and comfortable following set menus

  • Organised, efficient and able to maintain a clean, well run kitchen

  • Warm, friendly and able to build rapport with tamariki and whānau

  • Fit and active with good time management

  • A great communicator with a positive, team centred attitude

  • Experience cooking in an ECE centre or similar environment is an advantage

Why you will love it here:
You will be part of a genuinely friendly, supportive team where your work is noticed and appreciated. You will receive discounted childcare, competitive remuneration, annual flu vaccination and first aid training, as well as guidance and ongoing support in your role. You will know the food you create each day is making a real difference for tamariki.

If you love creating delicious, nourishing kai and want to be part of a team who values your skill and heart, we would love to hear from you. Please apply with your CV and cover letter.

Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid work visa.

We are an Accredited Employer.

Why Work for Busy Bees?
If you’re passionate about early learning, Busy Bees is the place to be. Although we are part of a global organisation, our company was founded by three families looking for better, more enriching childcare. Three decades later, we still keep the same values at heart.

We know that we couldn’t do what we do without the important people in our teams. We invest in our people and work with them to build career pathways that inspire.
